MP: Russia dominates Kazakhstan’s trade within EAEU
Russia remains Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner within the Eurasian Economic Union, accounting for nearly 90% of the country’s trade turnover inside the bloc, according to a Kazakh lawmaker.
Shakarim Bukhtugutov, a member of Kazakhstan’s parliament, said Russia represents 88.8% of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade within the union, Caliber.Az reported, citing Kazakh media.
Kyrgyzstan ranks second with 7.2% of Kazakhstan’s EAEU trade turnover, followed by Belarus at 3.8% and Armenia at 0.2%, the deputy said.
Bukhtugutov noted that Kazakhstan’s total trade turnover with fellow EAEU members reached $27.2 billion during the first 11 months of 2025.
He also pointed out that oil and petroleum products dominate Kazakhstan’s exports within the bloc, accounting for 51% of shipments.
The Eurasian Economic Union brings together Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan in a common economic space that allows the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor among member states.
