Oman envoy says Arab states seeking closer cooperation with Azerbaijan
Oman’s non-resident ambassador to Azerbaijan, Saif Rashid Al-Jawari, has said Arab countries are increasingly interested in strengthening cooperation with Baku, noting Azerbaijan’s growing profile as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
Al-Jawari expressed his gratitude for Azerbaijan’s policy towards Arab states and highlighted the “close cooperation” currently underway with several countries in the region, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Arab states also seek to enhance cooperation with Azerbaijan, which is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Naturally, the strengthening of your country’s ties with Arab states positively affects relations between Oman and Azerbaijan,” he said.
Al-Jawari serves as Oman’s ambassador to Azerbaijan from his residence in Ankara.
Speaking at a National Day reception in Ankara, Oman’s ambassador said the Sultanate plans to open an embassy in Baku.
Al-Jahwari noted that relations between the two countries continue to develop “at a high level” across multiple sectors, including cooperation within international organisations. He added that the appointment of a new Azerbaijani ambassador to Oman underscores the growing political engagement.
Bilateral ties were further strengthened last month with the inauguration of the Azerbaijani Embassy’s administrative building in Muscat during Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov’s official visit.
