Oppositionists rally in Yerevan against expected rise in annual parking fee

Members of the Armenian opposition bloc Mother Armenia have held a protest in front of the Yerevan Mayor’s Office against the initiative to raise the annual parking fee from 12,000 to 160,000 drams (about $400) in the city centre.

A large number of police officers were deployed to the site of the rally and surrounded the Mayor’s Office building, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Armenian media note that a session of the Yerevan Council of Elders is scheduled for 10:00 when the city's budget for 2024 is to be approved.

If the full opposition factions of the Council of Elders do not attend, there will be no quorum and the session will not take place.
