Pakistani border guard killed in shootout on Afghan border

A soldier of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps has been killed in a shootout near the Spin-Boldak-Chaman checkpoint on the border with Afghanistan.

Two more Pakistani border guards were injured in the incident, TASS reports, citing the Pakistani news channel Geo TV. Afghan security forces opened fire on Pakistani border guards on duty at the checkpoint. The losses of the Afghan side are not reported.

According to the TV channel, the Pakistani authorities have suspended the work of the checkpoint and do not plan to resume it until Afghanistan extradites the incident’s perpetrators.

Kabul claims that the attack on the Pakistani border guards was carried out by "unknown terrorists under the guise of the Taliban".
