President’s rep: Azerbaijan, Armenia reach agreement on COP29 climate conference
Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on special assignments Elchin Amirbayov has said that Armenia has agreed that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
Amirbayov made these remarks in an interview with the German “Zeit” newspaper, according to Report.
He noted that Armenia, as a member of the COP Bureau, has agreed that Azerbaijan will host the COP29 which is a result of confidence-building measures.
Amirbayov stressed that the exchange of military personnel between the countries is also a favourable trend, which also contributes to strengthening trust between Baku and Yerevan.
“Pay attention to the agreement with Armenia on the COP29 climate conference. We agreed on the exchange of 32 Armenian military personnel for two Azerbaijani ones. At the same time, Armenia became a member of the COP Bureau and, in turn, agreed that Azerbaijan will host the COP29 climate conference this year. This was the result of confidence-building measures and shows how this can be done,” he added.
