Putin calls for "equal and indivisible" global security architecture Video
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a new global security architecture that is “equal and indivisible”, ensuring security guarantees for all nations without compromising the interests or security of others.
Speaking in a video address to participants of the 13th meeting of high-level security representatives, Putin said the new framework must be founded on mutual respect and cooperation rather than confrontation, Caliber.Az reports.
“It is vital to transform our continent into a space of peace and stability,” he said, adding that the region should serve as a model for sustainable economic, social and cultural development.
The Russian leader proposed that existing platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) could provide the foundation for such a system.
Putin also emphasised the growing influence of countries in the Global South and East, stating they represent a “global majority” that is increasingly asserting its role in regional and international affairs. These nations, he noted, defend the principles of sovereign equality and the right to pursue their development models.
He expressed hope that the current conference would lead to “new and important approaches to strengthening international peace and stability.”
This year’s meeting is notable for the participation of US officials – a first in several years. The conference, convened by Russia’s Security Council, is being held at the national centre "Russia".
