Qatar condemns Iranian drone attack on Azerbaijan, attempted strike on Türkiye
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned an attempted Iranian ballistic missile strike towards Türkiye and a drone attack targeting an airport in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said the attacks represented a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of state sovereignty. The ministry described the incidents as part of a broader pattern of “reckless Iranian actions that threaten regional security and stability," Caliber.Az reports.

The ministry warned that Tehran’s continued opening of new fronts and expansion of tensions with neighbouring countries posed a serious risk to the region. It called on Iran to immediately halt "irresponsible policies” and to instead “prioritise regional stability, respect for international law, and the principles of good neighbourliness.”
Qatar also expressed full solidarity with Türkiye and Azerbaijan, stating that it supports any measures taken by the two countries to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
On March 5, 2026, at around midday, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iranian territory struck civilian infrastructure in Nakhchivan. One drone hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school building in the village of Shakarabad, causing damage and injuring two civilians.
