Reasons behind Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation's refusal to attend OSCE PA session in Yerevan explained Reasons/UPDATED
It has transpired for what reasons the Azerbaijani delegation will not take part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), scheduled for November 18-20, 2023, in Yerevan, Armenia.
As the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE PA, Azay Guliyev, told Report, although two years earlier, it was envisaged that the autumn session of the OSCE PA would be held in Uzbekistan in 2023, but this country refused to host the event.
“Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan sent a letter to the OSCE PA President on June 13, 2023, about his readiness to host the autumn session, and due to the absence of other candidates, the appeal was accepted.
The disrespect for the Azerbaijani flag, shown in front of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an international sporting event in Armenia on April 14, 2023, the organization of a rally by members of the Armenian parliament, journalists, bloggers in connection with the immediate release of the person, who committed this criminal act, caused fair dissatisfaction of the Azerbaijani public.
In addition, we are concerned about the prevailing feelings of hostility and hatred towards our country in Armenia, clearly manifested by anti-Azerbaijani propaganda and Azerbaijanophobia.
All these are good reasons why the Azerbaijani delegation will not take part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) in Yerevan on November 18-20, 2023. We should also note that the adoption of any decisions or recommendations regarding our country without our participation will be considered unfounded,” Azay Guliyev emphasized.

The Azerbaijani delegation will not participate in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) in Yerevan.
The head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Azay Guliyev, told APA.
Azay Guliyev said that the corresponding letter was sent to the delegations represented in the OSCE PA and the international secretariat of the organization.
The letter emphasizes that, along with the fact that the results of one-sided discussions at a session in which Azerbaijan will not be able to participate are useless and unacceptable, they will have a negative impact on the parliamentary diplomacy conducted by the OSCE PA towards promoting peace and harmony in the South Caucasus region.
In the letter, the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly clearly states that any decision or recommendation that is made against the interests of Azerbaijan during the autumn session, in which it will not be able to participate, will be declared invalid.
