Russia accuses Armenia of “blatant acquiescence” to anti-Moscow campaign
Russia has accused Armenia of aligning with Western efforts to foster anti-Russian sentiment, amid rising diplomatic tensions between Moscow and Yerevan.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova made the remarks during a briefing, criticising what she described as Armenia’s stance under Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“We note the blatant connivance of [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol] Vovayevich Pashinyan’s team with the West’s targeted campaign to stoke anti-Russian sentiment,” Zakharova said.
She added that allegations against Moscow were being made “literally every day,” including claims of interference in Armenia’s internal affairs and accusations of so-called hybrid attacks.
“These include claims and fabrications that Moscow is allegedly interfering in the republic’s internal affairs and subjecting it—they’ve even gone so far as to say this—to hybrid attacks,” she said, adding that the situation was accompanied by “a certain degree of spy mania.”
