Russia reaffirms Armenia partnership, boasts nuclear expertise

11 February 2026 14:41

Russia expects its cooperation with Armenia within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to continue, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the recent visit of the US Vice President to Yerevan and Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Integration projects, such as the EAEU, unite us with Armenia. It is hardly disputable what role the EAEU plays in maintaining such high rates of economic growth in that country. This role is evident. We hope that our cooperation will continue,” Peskov stated.

He underscored that Russia maintains a broad range of bilateral relations with both Yerevan and Baku, encompassing all possible spheres, including mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, reciprocal investments, and cultural exchanges.

Addressing Armenia’s cooperation with the United States in the field of nuclear energy, Peskov noted that “there are old Soviet facilities, which, of course, are of Soviet and Russian design. Here, Russia undoubtedly has significant expertise and greater competitiveness.”

Peskov emphasized Russia’s leadership in the nuclear sector, stating that the country is capable of withstanding the highest levels of international competition should such competition be sought by its partners.

“Russia is able to provide better quality for many years at a lower cost,” he added, highlighting the country’s technological and economic advantages in nuclear energy projects.
