Russian, Belarussian leaders discuss global, bilateral issues in Saint Petersburg VIDEO
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has shared details of his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their meeting in Saint Petersburg.
“When an elder brother meets with a younger one, the topics are too broad. We talked about everything: personal matters, state affairs, and not just intergovernmental issues, but also global ones. It's very timely now,” Lukashenko said, Caliber.Az reports per “Vremya Pervogo” Telegram channel.
The Belarusian leader also mentioned that he conveyed “greetings from the Middle East” to Putin.
The leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) gathered in St. Petersburg on December 26 for their 10th meeting, with a focus on the future of economic development. Russian President Vladimir Putin, opening the session, marked the EEU's 10th anniversary, describing it as a "self-sufficient center in the emerging multipolar world."
Putin emphasized the union's role in boosting trade, investment, and cooperation, which drive economic growth and improve the well-being of citizens across its member countries. He reaffirmed Russia's commitment to strengthening ties within the EEU and suggested discussions on advancing integration efforts and enhancing the union's single market.
The Russian president invited the leaders to review the current activities of the five-nation bloc and set out a vision for furthering integration and developing the union’s unified market. The EEU, established in 2015, includes five post-Soviet nations: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
