Shevchenko congratulated the Azerbaijani people on Independence Day, and said that for me, Azerbaijan was and remains a stronghold of culture, international law, justice and human relations, Azertag reports.
He pointed to the prospects for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and expressed confidence that the vast majority in the Armenian society is against the war and wish for peace with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
“We see that it is not the position of the Armenian diasporas in Russia, the United States and France, but the willingness of the Armenian people that manifests itself in the desire to live in peace with Azerbaijan and Turkey. The Armenian people do not want war. I know that many Armenians who live in Armenia want peace and absolutely do not want to die for the interests of Moscow, French, Karabakh oligarchs of Armenian origin,” Shevchenko said.
He added that the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is a mandatory condition for peace in the South Caucasus.
