Shusha City declared ECO tourism capital for 2026
The Azerbaijani city of Shusha has been selected as the tourism capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in 2026.
The decision was made within the framework of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) in 2023, the 7th meeting of tourism experts and the 5th meeting of tourism ministers of ECO member countries was held in the Iranian city of Ardabil on October 4-5, Caliber.Az informs, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The delegation of the State Tourism Agency represented Azerbaijan at the meetings.
Prospects of tourism cooperation and measures necessary for further strengthening of relations in this field were discussed at the meeting.
Based on the voting results, Shusha was chosen as the ECO tourism capital for 2026.
The decision was also enshrined in the Ardabil Declaration that was adopted following the meeting.
