Azerbaijan produces almost 30 billion cubic metres of gas by July 2025
Azerbaijan extracted 29.246 billion cubic metres of natural gas between January and July 2025, marking a slight decline of 0.7% compared with the same period in 2024, according to data from the State Statistical Committee.
Output of marketable gas, however, rose marginally by 0.2%, reaching 22.551 billion cubic metres, Caliber.Az reports.
In July alone, the country produced 4.257 billion cubic metres, down 2.8% year-on-year.
For comparison, Azerbaijan’s total gas production in 2024 amounted to 50.597 billion cubic metres, up 4.3% from 2023.
To recall, on August 2, 2025, Azerbaijan commenced the export of natural gas to Syria through Turkey, utilising the Kilis–Aleppo pipeline.
This initiative, involving Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, aims to supply Syria with up to 6 million cubic meters of gas per day, sourced from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea.
The project is co-financed by Qatar and is expected to significantly enhance Syria's electricity production, increasing daily availability from 3–4 hours to approximately 10 hours.
The agreement was formalised during a visit by Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to Baku in July 2025, reflecting a shift in diplomatic relations following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad.
The trilateral deal, brokered by Azerbaijan, Syria, and Qatar, underscores Azerbaijan's growing role in supporting Syria's post-war recovery.
