Chinese envoy tours Baku Port, signals expansion of Middle Corridor partnership PHOTO
Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, visited Baku International Sea Trade Port, gaining firsthand insight into the port’s infrastructure and its role in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor.
During the meeting with Eldar Salakhov, director of Baku International Sea Trade Port LLC, Ambassador Lu was briefed on the port’s capabilities, recent achievements, and the volume of cargo transported between Azerbaijan and China, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities to expand trade and logistics links along the Middle Corridor.
Salakhov highlighted the strategic importance of the Baku port as a key transit hub connecting China and Europe, emphasising the need for joint efforts to ensure faster and more efficient cargo flows.
Ambassador Lu praised the corridor’s potential for Chinese companies and stressed the value of leveraging the port’s existing capacities to deepen trade and logistics cooperation.
