SOCAR vice-president names unveils oil reserves in Naftalan

The oil reserves of the Naftalan resort area are estimated at 1.165 million tons.

According to him, the balance of the medical oil field in Naftalan is 1.109 million tons, and the volume that can be extracted is 61,000 tons.

“The development of the resort infrastructure of Naftalan is closely connected with the growth of oil produced in this place and the need for it. The uniqueness of this oil is reflected in the records of the 13th century Italian traveler Marco Polo. So far, more than 55,000 tons of oil have been produced in the Naftalan resort area. Its oil reserves are estimated at 1.165 million tons. Today, the balance of the medical oil deposit in Naftalan is 1.109 million tons, and the volume that can be extracted is 61,000 tons,” he said.

Mammadov noted that the infrastructure of the Naftalan resort area in the new realities serves the rapid development of the Azerbaijani economy.
“Under the new realities, this resort area serves the rapid and sustainable development of the Azerbaijani economy, and the infrastructure projects being implemented in the Karabakh economic region create synergy between the economic zones of East Zangazur and Dashkesan,” he said.
