Son of late Russian politician Zhirinovsky denied entry to his memorial event
Oleg Zhirinovsky (Eidelstein), the illegitimate son of Russia’s late LDPR founder Vladimir Zhirinovsky, was denied entry to a closed event at Moscow’s MGIMO University dedicated to his father’s legacy, after failing to register in advance, organisers said.
The incident occurred during the “Zhirinovsky Readings,” a commemorative event focused on the political legacy of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who led the nationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) for more than three decades until his death in 2022, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
According to organisers, all participants were required to complete prior registration due to the closed format of the event. Oleg Zhirinovsky had not registered and was therefore not permitted to attend.
In a video obtained by a publication, he is seen behaving aggressively, insisting that he be allowed to enter without registration. After being refused, he demanded that LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky be called to the scene, referred to the organisers as “vultures,” and threatened them with trouble.
A Rosgvardia (National Guard) unit was called to calm the situation. Officers escorted him out of the building, but he was not detained.
