Strategic transport links propel Azerbaijan’s trade with Eurasian partners
Over the past three years, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries has surged by an impressive 60 per cent, nearing the $6 billion mark, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach revealed during the international round table held in Baku.
Addressing the event themed "Formation of the Transport Framework of Eurasia and the Significant Role of Azerbaijan in this Process," Volvach emphasized that the sustained growth in trade and economic relations hinges on the comprehensive enhancement of transport and logistics connectivity, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“The key to further sustainable growth in trade and economic relations is the comprehensive development of transport and logistics ties,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Nadezhda Bychkova, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Public Administration at Lomonosov Moscow State University, highlighted Azerbaijan’s rising prominence as a strategic transport hub. “Today Azerbaijan, with its developed infrastructure and continuing to actively invest in the expansion of the transport network, consolidates its strategic advantage as the most important transit hub located in the centre of Eurasian geography at the intersection of key trans-Eurasian routes,” Bychkova noted.
