Tbilisi: Azerbaijan–Armenia peace should drive shared regional growth

14 November 2025 14:19

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stressed that once a peace agreement is reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the focus should shift to looking ahead and developing the region as a shared space.

He made the remarks while outlining the issues to be discussed at today’s meeting with Armenia’s foreign minister, who is visiting Georgia, emphasizing that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are taking the right approach by seeking cooperation in all areas and with all partners for the benefit of their peoples, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.

“Talking about bilateral relations and regional dynamics is important. After reaching a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we should look ahead and think about developing the region as a common space. We should all support each other in the work that matters for every country — for Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia alike. This means strengthening our sovereignty and improving the well-being of our population,” Papuashvili said.

Papuashvili stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan are pursuing the right policy, because they are trying to cooperate with everyone for the benefit of their people.

He said they are not acting in the way Georgia’s radical opposition, led from outside, claims — that they should look nowhere and only wait for instructions from Brussels.

“In this regard, we will discuss how they assess the dynamics in the region and what common plans they have,” the Georgian speaker concluded.
