Tehran marks 40 days since death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
A ceremony marking 40 days since the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will take place on April 8 in Tehran, following the announced two-week ceasefire with the United States, the head of Greater Tehran’s traffic police said.
According to him, traffic restrictions in the city centre began at 7:00 a.m. local time, with the ceremony scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m, Iranian news agency IRNA reports.
The US and Israel began a war with Iran on February 28, targeting major Iranian cities, including Tehran. The White House justified the operation by citing alleged Iranian missile and nuclear threats.
During the conflict, US leadership openly called on the Iranian population to oppose their government and seize power. As a result of the strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several other key figures in the Islamic Republic’s leadership were killed.
