Tragic end for Russian traveller in Georgia Murdered and Thrown into River
Viktor Solovyov, Russian tourist abducted in Georgia, has been found murdered, and his body was thrown into the Nakra River, Georgian police have reported.
Two suspects, aged 32 and 38, have been detained, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
They face up to life in prison for charges of murder, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.
Viktor Solovyov, a 38-year-old businessman from Tula, was a passionate traveller who had spent years exploring the world, including recent visits to European destinations and ski resorts such as Gudauri. He was in Georgia to enjoy the New Year holidays with his partner, Alina.
On January 5, the couple were attacked by two men while driving towards the Tetnuldi ski resort. After stopping to take a photograph in a snowstorm, they were approached by the attackers, who initially asked for help before firing at Viktor.
Alina was left behind in the car, narrowly escaping further harm but later reporting an attempted assault.
