Turkish Air Force destroyes terrorist bases in Iraq DETAILS; VIDEO/PHOTO
The details of the operation in the region of Asos in northern Iraq have become known.
To accomplish the task, the planes took off from three different bases across the country and simultaneously hit 16 targets in the Asos region, 140 kilometers from the Turkish-Iraqi border, Star reports.
More than 10 aircraft of the Turkish Armed Forces took part in the operation. In addition to combat aircraft, tanker aircraft, aircraft equipped with the airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system and UAVs were also used in the operation against terrorists in Asos in northern Iraq.
Turkish National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar, in a statement to journalists on September 29 in Shirnak, shared information that terrorist targets in Asos were subjected to air strikes.
During the operation, shelters, bunkers, caves, tunnels and ammunition depots were destroyed, as well as the headquarters used by the leaders of the organization as a meeting place.
Domestic ammunition was widely used in air operations.
