Turkish, Armenian leaders discuss normalization of ties without preconditions
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan engaged in a telephone conversation to discuss the normalization of relations between their two countries without any preconditions.
The announcement was made via the Turkish leader's Administration page on social network X, as reported by Caliber.Az.
During the conversation, both leaders highlighted their mutual political will to fully normalize bilateral relations. They emphasized the significance of ongoing negotiations between their special representatives and reaffirmed the agreements reached thus far.
President Erdogan and Prime Minister Pashinyan also exchanged congratulatory messages related to significant cultural and religious observances. "Prime Minister Pashinyan congratulated President Erdogan on Eid al-Adha, and President Erdogan congratulated Prime Minister Pashinyan on the upcoming Vardavar," the Turkish Administration reported.
In addition, President Erdogan expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Pashinyan regarding the recent flood disaster in Armenia's northern regions.
The dialogue between the two leaders also covered recent regional developments and the broader international agenda. They appreciated the ongoing discussions between high-ranking officials from both countries and expressed optimism about future talks.
"Highlighting the importance of the continuation of the talks between the two countries' special envoys, the two leaders reaffirmed the points agreed upon so far," the report stated. The leaders were pleased with the ongoing dialogue and the progress being made towards improving bilateral relations.
