Turkish foundation president praises Azerbaijan’s diplomatic strength following plane crash VIDEO
President of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation Aygün Attar has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin's apologies to Azerbaijan serve as an acknowledgment of the gravity of the tragedy.
Attar made these remarks during a broadcast on Türkiye's Haber Global TV channel, Caliber.Az reports.
She noted that President Putin's apologies regarding the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane, which was operating the Baku-Grozny flight, serve as an expression of support for the investigation into the incident.
She stressed that Azerbaijan has demonstrated its diplomatic strength in response to the tragedy.
"Azerbaijan, remaining calm and avoiding provocative actions and speculative publications, patiently awaited a statement from the Russian side. The press service of the Azerbaijani president noted that the two heads of state also emphasised that the investigation launched in connection with the tragedy will be conducted with full transparency, and the public will be regularly informed," Attar added.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, tragically crashed near Aktau. The plane was carrying 67 people, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Sadly, 38 people lost their lives in the crash, with 29 survivors.
