Turkish lawmaker: Azerbaijan-Armenia peace hinges on constitutional reform PHOTO
The key to long-lasting peace in the South Caucasus lies in constitutional changes in Armenia and the cessation of the OSCE Minsk Group’s activities, said Head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Şamil Ayrım.
During a meeting in Ankara with a delegation from the Milli Majlis, Ayrım emphasized the importance of the peace agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia for the broader region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Reflecting on Türkiye’s solidarity with Azerbaijan during the 44-day war, he recalled that Türkiye once again demonstrated its friendship and alliance with Azerbaijan during a challenging period. "This is how it was, how it is, and how it will always be!" he assured.
The Turkish parliamentarian emphasized that all that Türkiye had hoped for has come to fruition. "We wished for Azerbaijan's independence, and it happened. We sincerely believed in the day of the Khojaly liberation, and it came true. Today, we speak about the opening of the Zangezur Corridor. I am confident that it will soon happen too!" he added.
Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations, in turn, expressed his gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for the warm reception and thanked the Turkish leadership and people for their support of Azerbaijan’s just position.
The meeting was also attended by Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Ankara, Rashad Mammadov.
