Turkish leader arrives in Kazan for BRICS leaders' meeting
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Kazan for a summit of BRICS leaders.
Erdoğan was warmly welcomed by Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
During the summit, Erdoğan is set to hold bilateral meetings, including discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The talks will focus on issues surrounding bilateral cooperation, the situation in Ukraine, and developments in the Middle East.
Notably, the 16th BRICS Summit, a significant event during Russia’s chairmanship of the group, is taking place in Kazan on October 22-24.
The BRICS association was established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. As of January 1, 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates will become full-fledged members.
This summit in Kazan will be the first to include representatives from the new member countries. Delegates from over 30 nations are expected to participate.
