Türkiye can build ships with cutting-edge technology - Erdogan
Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that shipyards are now among the world's leading shipbuilding centres that can build ships with the most advanced technology.
The head of state made the remarks at an iftar (a meal taken by Muslims at sundown to break the daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan) gathering of young Turkish citizens in Istanbul's Uskudar district, Anadolu reports.
Erdogan drew attention to the recently commissioned domestic flagship naval ship TCG Anadolu, which was built at Istanbul's shipyards.
According to him, the country's largest warship is entirely the product of domestic shipyards.
The president said that many countries around the world, including the US and Pakistan, are now turning to the capabilities of Türkiye's military shipyards.
"There are countries ready to order aircraft carriers and submarines from Türkiye. The UK is ready to cooperate with Türkiye on the issue of building submarines," Erdogan continued.
The Turkish leader also noted the mega-project of creating a domestic unmanned underwater vehicle.
"Technology is constantly evolving, being updated. It is like a sport - striving for new standards," Erdogan said.
