Türkiye expands relief efforts with new aid shipment to Iran
A convoy carrying humanitarian aid has been dispatched from Türkiye to Iran, the state broadcaster Anadolu Agency reported.
The shipment consists of six trucks loaded with medical supplies and medicines, which departed from the eastern Turkish province of Van on April 24. The convoy is expected to cross the border into Iran at the Gürbulak checkpoint.
Muhammed Tosun, Van Provincial Health Director, said the initiative was carried out under directives from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the country’s health authorities. He emphasized that Türkiye would continue to extend assistance beyond its borders.
“The cargo includes medicines and medical supplies. In accordance with the instructions of our president and our minister, we will continue to support our brothers across the border,” Tosun said. “We hope this war will come to an end very soon, allowing our Iranian colleagues to carry out their work more freely.”
Tosun also noted that three trucks had been sent previously. With the latest dispatch, the total number of aid vehicles delivered to Iran now stands at nine, aimed at supporting local efforts to assist civilians in need.
