Türkiye hosts sea trials of domestic frigate TCG Istanbul VIDEO
The first Turkish frigate TCG Istanbul, originally designed and manufactured using domestic technologies, successfully continues sea trials.
The TCG Istanbul class I frigate is designed for maritime surveillance and patrol operations, inspection and surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), as well as for the prevention of potential threats, Caliber.Az reports, citing SavunmaSanayiST.com's Twitter page.

Specifications of the frigate
TCG Istanbul, with a displacement of 3,000 tons, has a length of 133.2 meters, a beam of 14.4 meters and a draft of 4.05 meters.
maximum speed - 29+ knots (up to 54 km per hour);
cruising speed - 14 knots (26 km per hour).
Two mushroom propellers are communicated with the CODAG propulsion system (2 MTU diesel engines + 1 LM2500 gas turbine). Four diesel generators produce 560 kW each.
Navigation and detection systems:
3D radar (probably Aselsan CENK-S AESA);
navigation radar (probably Aselsan ALPER-P LPI);
2xAKR-D fire control radars;
FERSAH hull sonar;
HIZIR torpedo countermeasures system;
laser warning system.
Armament:
MIDLAS sub-deck vertical launch system for launching Hisar family of anti-aircraft missiles;
4×4 ATMACA long-range anti-ship cruise missiles;
Turkish 35mm twin-barrel Aselsan Gokdeniz CIWS short-range anti-aircraft system;
6-mm Super Rapid Gun universal shipboard cannon;
Two remote-controlled combat modules with 25mm Aselsan STOP machine guns;
2×3 light torpedoes (MK-46 Mod 5 / Roketsan ORKA).
It is planned that TCG Istanbul will join the Turkish fleet by the end of this year. In addition, three more frigates - TCG Izmir (F-516), TCG Içel (F-517) - will be built by Sedef Shipyard and TCG Izmit (F-518) with the participation of Turkish companies STM and TAIS Shipyards. These ships are to be built at the three shipyards Anadolu, Sedef and Sefine within 36 months.
