Türkiye rejects energy giant's bid to participate in developing Black Sea gas field
Türkiye has rejected an offer from the world energy giant, which is unnamed by the Turkish media, to jointly develop a new gas field in the Black Sea, the Sabah newspaper reports.
According to the newspaper's sources, the US, Britain and Canada had earlier proposed cooperation in developing gas fields in the Black Sea but the Turkish side recently received "the most concrete proposal".
The newspaper said "one of the world's energy giants, which dominates the global energy sector" has offered Türkiye to cash in half the market value of the discovery and conduct all natural gas exploration, production and sales operations with Türkiye on the world market in the Black Sea at a later date.
Energy sector representatives stressed that this offer was rejected as Türkiye is now one of the countries given the opportunity to explore and produce natural gas globally.
