The MRSS is a 153-meter-long vessel with a displacement of 9,700 tons and a troop capacity of up to 500 personnel. It is capable of transporting heavy military equipment, including 14 main battle tanks and nine amphibious vehicles. The ship’s deck supports the simultaneous takeoff and landing of two helicopters weighing up to 15 tons each. Its operational range extends up to 8,000 nautical miles, with endurance at sea lasting up to 30 days.
Designed as a versatile platform, the MRSS can perform multiple combat roles such as amphibious assault, naval logistics support, maritime command, and reconnaissance operations. Beyond combat, it is also equipped to handle various non-combat missions, including evacuation, medical support, humanitarian aid, helicopter operations, and search and rescue tasks.
The ship’s medical facilities are modern and comprehensive, enabling it to function as a fully equipped hospital during crises. Additionally, the MRSS is built to conduct evacuation operations even under extreme chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threat conditions, enhancing its role in crisis response.
In terms of armament, the MRSS features a 76mm naval gun mounted at the bow, four remotely operated stabilised weapon stations equipped with 12.7mm caliber machine guns, and two launchers for dipole reflectors and infrared decoys, providing defensive capabilities. The vessel is also equipped with two fast landing craft (LCM) and two rigid-hulled inflatable boats (RHIBs), each measuring 10 meters, to facilitate rapid deployment and troop transport.
