UNICEF hails Azerbaijan's work on maternal, child health protection PHOTO
The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan has held a meeting with the Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for Europe and Central Asia Regina De Dominicis.
UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva and acting head of UNICEF office in our country Jeyhun Mirzoyev also attended the meeting, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
Welcoming the guests, Health Minister Teymur Musayev emphasized the existence of productive cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNICEF: "Our country pays special attention to the formation, strengthening and development of human capital. Within the framework of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and UNICEF, projects are being implemented in various directions in the field of health care, education, maternal and child health care".
Musayev noted that the Ministry of Health is taking important steps to improve the quality of services in the field of maternal and child health care, as well as the modernization and digitalization of health care.
In conclusion, the Azerbaijani Minister of Health expressed confidence that further cooperation will be even more fruitful.
In turn, Regina De Dominicis, highly assessing the level of relations between Azerbaijan and UNICEF, noted that the organization's activities in the country started in 1993. She said the first projects implemented by UNICEF in Azerbaijan focused on vaccination, health care, rehabilitation, education and protection of children.
The UNICEF Regional Director positively assessed the work done in Azerbaijan on maternal and child health protection.
Priority directions of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
