US Air Force aircraft conducts patrols near Iranian airspace—source
A US Air Force Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft has been spotted again over neutral waters in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, near Iranian airspace.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media, an aviation source noted that the aircraft has been operating at an altitude of around 5,500 metres for more than an hour, bypassing the standard air corridors used by civilian flights. The Poseidon departed from a US base in Bahrain and continues to monitor the region.
In addition, the source noted that a US Air Force Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton drone has recently been conducting regular patrols over the gulfs. The unmanned aircraft carries out reconnaissance missions lasting 10 to 15 hours daily and is capable of surveilling extensive areas of land and sea, complementing the operations of manned patrol aircraft like the Boeing P-8A Poseidon.
