Uzbek president thanks Azerbaijan for successful ECO chairmanship
The economies of the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), of which Azerbaijan is a member, are demonstrating sustainable rates of development.
As Report's correspondent reports from Tashkent, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said this in his speech at the opening of the ECO summit on November 8.
Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the successful chairmanship of the ECO by Azerbaijan until October of this year. He noted that during its chairmanship, Baku came up with a number of significant initiatives and made a fruitful contribution to the activities of the organization.
“To improve economic cooperation between the participating countries, Uzbekistan proposes to adopt an agreement on simplifying trade within the framework of the ECO, which was developed by Uzbek experts,” said the Uzbek president.
The Uzbek leader also noted that the launch of multimodal transport corridors meets the interests of all ECO member states.
“The member countries of our organization are inextricably linked by a common history, rich culture, and similar values,” he added.
