Western Azerbaijan Community slams Human Rights Watch’s biased report
The Western Azerbaijan Community has criticized the biased report of Human Rights Watch.
According to Report, the community made a statement to this effect.
"Human Rights Watch, an organization operating in the United States of America, has published a report entitled ‘Azerbaijan: Ensure Civilians’ Rights in Nagorno Karabakh’. At first glance, it may seem normal that organizations that claim to be concerned with human rights publish reports on this topic. The gross errors and exaggerations in the report under consideration could be explained by the sensitivity to the human rights of such organizations. However, Human Rights Watch's openly biased and discriminatory approach completely calls its entire work into question,” the statement said.
The statement added that the mentioned organization has never indicated a position on the forcible expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia.
"The appeals we have sent repeatedly, most recently on August 12, 2023, to the organization to express our attitude regarding Armenia's violation of our rights and to support our right to return have gone unanswered,” it notes.
In its report, Human Rights Watch, on the one hand, demands that the Republic of Azerbaijan create conditions for the departure of Armenians who wish to leave Garabagh, and on the other hand, immediately reminds of their right to return. In this case, we would like to ask Human Rights Watch why they have never once in 30 years reminded about the rights of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia?
“This obvious bias and discrimination proves that Human Rights Watch has nothing to do with human rights and this organization is a cheap political tool in the hands of certain circles.”
“We demand from Human Rights Watch to stop discrimination against Azerbaijanis on ethnic and religious grounds, not to hinder reintegration in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan and to support the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to their homeland," the statement reads.
