Yemen's new PM to visit Moscow for official meetings
New Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak will visit Moscow on February 26.
As part of his trip to the Russian capital, bin Mubarak is expected to hold several meetings, the Yemeni embassy in Moscow told TASS.
"The arrival is expected tonight. He expects to meet with [State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav] Volodin, [Federation Council Speaker Valentina] Matvienko and [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov in the coming days," the diplomatic mission said.
Asked whether a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was expected, the interlocutor said: "It is being clarified."
Earlier, Yemen's state-run Saba news agency reported that bin Mubarak intends to discuss with Russian officials bilateral relations, some aspects of the regional agenda, as well as "Russia's role in promoting security and peace in Yemen."
Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak was appointed head of the Yemeni government on February 5, retaining his post as foreign minister, which he has held since late 2020. This is his first foreign visit as prime minister of the republic.
