Armenian MP upset about lack of national elite in country
One of the key problems and causes of disasters in Armenia was the fact that the country failed to form a national and state elite, MP from the Hayastan opposition faction Aghvan Vardanyan said.
He made the remarks at a briefing in the Armenian Parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Our tragedy is that we never had a national and state elite, people who think and live the same values and categories, have the same way of thinking and are ready to go all the way,” Vardanyan said.
He also sees the opposition's fault in that it failed to convey to the general public the idea that the current course of events is disastrous for the country.
The politician believes that it is necessary to form an elite of 100 conditional people, representatives of the political, economic, spiritual and cultural spheres.
“And if these 100 people take the path of a decisive struggle, manage to choose a leader for themselves [which is also problematic], then this movement will succeed. This will lead to the formation of a new government that meets the interests of the country and its values,” he added.
The representative of the opposition is sure that the way out of the current situation should be sought in Armenia itself.
