Ankara slams Israel’s Syria claims as “unfounded”
Ankara has dismissed as unfounded statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office following Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory, accusing Israel of using unsubstantiated allegations to justify violations of Syria’s sovereignty.
The Directorate of Communications under the Administration of the President of Türkiye said the claims made by the Israeli side “have no basis,” stressing that they cannot serve as justification for military action against Syria.
The Turkish authorities also warned that developments in Syria should not contribute to further destabilization in the region. Ankara called for strict adherence to international law and reaffirmed its support for efforts aimed at preserving stability and security across the Middle East.
The statement came after Netanyahu’s office claimed that Syria had sought to undermine agreements reached with Israel to maintain the existing security status quo by allowing Turkish forces to deploy at an airbase in the Aleppo area.
