Anti-Russian banners erected in Yerevan ahead of foreign minister's visit PHOTO
Ahead of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to Armenia, anti-Russian sentiment was on display in the capital, Yerevan, with banners and posters denouncing the Russian leadership.
Armenian media highlighted the appearance of banners in key locations throughout the city, including the prominent Kyiv Bridge, Caliber.Az reports.
In addition to the banners, several posters were placed in strategic areas, further criticizing Russia’s role in regional and global affairs. These acts of protest are believed to be part of a larger demonstration planned in response to Lavrov’s visit.
Local sources indicate that protests are scheduled to take place on the day of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit, with demonstrations planned outside both the Russian Embassy and the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Lavrov is set to meet with Armenian officials.
Lavrov is scheduled to arrive in Yerevan on May 20, for a two-day working visit. During his stay, he will hold meetings with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, as announced by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
