Armenian PM: Victory means peaceful, free life on one’s own land
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that victory should be understood as the ability to live freely, peacefully and in prosperity on one’s own land, rather than solely in military terms.
Speaking at an extraordinary conference of the Civil Contract Party, Pashinyan said Armenia’s goal is to build and develop a state rooted in stability and normal life, Caliber.Az reports.
He referred to remarks attributed to Pope Francis, who had described Armenians as a “nation of martyrs”, rejecting the characterisation.
Pashinyan said that while the country’s history includes hardship, it should not define its present or future.
He added that the task ahead is to transform that historical experience into progress, stressing that “victory is not only military victory” but the ability to live freely and peacefully in one’s homeland.
