Armenian pundit cites Azerbaijan's balanced policy as an example
In an interview with Armenian media, political scientist Suren Surenyants said that the Armenian government's lack of a clear agenda and vision may have very dangerous consequences for the country.
"Pashinyan did not go to the CSTO meeting because it was logical from their political point of view. Unfortunately, the current Armenian government led by Nikol Pashinyan ignores the literal rules of politics and geopolitics, playing a one-gate game. In other words, it is solely oriented towards the Western platform, lacking vision and a clear agenda. This can have very dangerous consequences for Armenia," he noted, according to Caliber.Az.
"I have previously expressed my point of view on this issue. I am absolutely open to the development of relations with the West, EU and America, as they are also important partners with whom serious and meaningful relations should be built. However, the problem is that the Armenian government has to diversify its foreign policy. They formally claim to do so, but their policy has nothing to do with a balanced diversification of foreign policy. Their idea of Westernisation is, in fact, a primitive anti-Russian policy, not real diversification.
Who says it's impossible to have a policy on both sides? I can give you an example, such as Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, which have very balanced policies. Look at the geography of Tokayev's meetings over the last ten days: Macron, Putin, Erdogan. This is a classic example of balanced foreign policy diversification. I can give another example for our public. Look at the geography of Aliyev's political contacts. Here is the real diversification. They do not change their political course in this turbulent world," the political scientist said.
