Armenian revanchist priest accuses current government of "defeatist attitudes"
Leader of the "Tavush (Tovuzgala) for the Homeland" revanchist movement Bagrat Galstanyan met with third president Serzh Sargsyan about ten days ago to discuss the situation in the country and the movement's actions. He told reporters about this.
Galstanyan did not hide that he had also met with first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan 15 days before the events in the village of Kiran (Guney) and the start of the protest movement. No new meeting is planned at this time, Caliber.Az reports.
He also said that he often meets with representatives of the Armenian National Congress and receives various advice. Regarding the second president Robert Kocharyan, with whom the representatives of the authorities and the media controlled by them associate the movement, Galstanyan said that there was no meeting and is not planned yet.
The journalists asked him if he had ever met with the incumbent president Vahagn Khachaturyan. Galstanyan confirmed that there was a meeting during the 2018 revolution. According to him, then Khachaturyan treated what was happening with irony. Now, no matter what happens in the country, the president walks around with a smile, not expressing a bit of concern.
"These are soulless, heartless people. It seems that they have nothing to do with the country, with the position they hold. Their thoughts are defeatist, and they live in pretence," Galstanyan said.
The trip of the movement's representatives to Syunik (Zangezur) may not take place, Bagrat Galstyan also said. He noted that an "important event" is planned for Friday, and if there is not enough time, they will only go to Tigranashen (Kyarke). Galstanyan also noted the importance of the trip to Vardenis (Basarkechar).
"This is an important event, we cannot miss it. This is not a street action, but a key one," he said.
The movement leader added that some of their actions remain confidential, so he cannot provide detailed information.
The ongoing protests in Armenia began after it became known about the agreement reached on April 19 between Yerevan and Baku to start the delimitation of the border with Tavush (Tovuzgala). On May 9, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who headed the procession from Tavush (Tovuzgala) to Yerevan, called on the prime minister to resign.
