Azerbaijan aims to transform Karabakh into a leading clean energy hub
The Azerbaijani government intends to turn the Karabakh region into a dynamically developing clean energy centre.
Vahid Hajiyev, special representative of the President in Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, made the statement while addressing the high-level meeting "Path to COP29: Sustainable and lasting future" in Zangilan, Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijani media.
"By utilizing the abundant solar energy resources in Jabrail, Gubadli, and Zangilan, we are integrating solar panels into residential buildings and street infrastructure systems. In addition, initiatives such as solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles, smart car parks, and other eco-friendly solutions underscore our commitment to implementing sustainable practices," Hajiyev said.
The presidential special representative reminded that the British company BP intends to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 240 MW, and Nobel Energy intends to invest in the construction of a 100 MW solar panel plant in Jabrail.
According to him, these initiatives organically fit into the national strategy aimed at turning the Karabakh region into a dynamically developing clean energy center.
