Azerbaijan and Brazil engaged in discussions surrounding collaboration on "green" financing during COP29.

Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Minister of Economy and co-chairman of the Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil, met with Roberto Perosa, Secretary for Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, to delve into potential avenues of partnership, Caliber.Az, reports citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

The meeting emphasized the scope for enhancing trade turnover between the two nations and fostering ties across various economic sectors. Azerbaijan highlighted its conducive business and investment environment, including privileges and incentives for investors in industrial zones.

The discussions encompassed the exploration of opportunities for joint initiatives and collaboration on "green" financing within the framework of COP29. Additionally, both parties exchanged perspectives on mutual investments, cooperation under public-private partnerships, and prospects for bolstering ties in the agricultural sector.

Of particular interest were talks on expanding Azerbaijani agricultural exports to Brazil, enhancing food security measures, and attracting modern technologies to agricultural parks. The dialogue underscores the commitment of Azerbaijan and Brazil to deepen their bilateral relations and explore avenues for sustainable development and economic growth.

Baku has been chosen as the host city for COP29, marking a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's commitment to environmental stewardship and global climate action.

The announcement was made following rigorous deliberations by the international community, recognizing Baku's strategic position as a key player in advancing sustainability efforts on a global scale. This decision underscores the confidence placed in Azerbaijan's ability to facilitate constructive dialogue and catalyze collective action towards addressing pressing environmental challenges.

COP29, the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is slated to bring together policymakers, scientists, activists, and stakeholders from around the world to engage in critical discussions on mitigating climate change and charting a course towards a sustainable future.

Hosting COP29 represents a significant opportunity for Azerbaijan to showcase its dedication to environmental conservation and showcase its efforts in renewable energy, conservation, and sustainable development. The event will provide a platform for Baku to demonstrate its leadership in driving innovative solutions to combat climate change and promote global cooperation in tackling this urgent issue.
