Azerbaijan considers suspension of parliamentary ties with Belgium, Netherlands
A proposal has been put forward in Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Parliament, to suspend the activities of inter-parliamentary working groups with Belgium and the Netherlands following criticism of recent parliamentary resolutions in those countries concerning Azerbaijan.
MP Elchin Mirzabayli made the statement during a plenary session of parliament, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Mirzabayli condemned what he described as biased resolutions adopted by the parliaments of Belgium and the Netherlands, arguing that they do not reflect legal norms or the situation on the ground in the region.
“These documents, being an example of political manipulation, simultaneously represent yet another manifestation of a selective and hypocritical approach to the principles of international law, open bias and political aggression. Despite the references in the resolutions to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, they put forward completely unfounded claims about Azerbaijan’s alleged occupation of Armenian territories, which clearly reveals the biased nature of these documents. This is not merely a contradiction, but a deliberate distortion of the facts,” he said.
