Azerbaijan, D-8 explore new pathways for stronger economic cooperation
Azerbaijan and the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation have explored opportunities for deepening their collaboration, with a focus on sustainable economic growth.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev and Secretary-General of the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation Isiaka Abdulkadir Imam, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The talks centered on enhancing bilateral relations, with both parties addressing the steps Azerbaijan will take as part of its membership in the international organisation. The meeting also touched on other areas of mutual interest, aiming to further bolster cooperation in the future.
Participants emphasised Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the D-8, noting the importance of collaborative initiatives that contribute to long-term, sustainable economic growth across member countries.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8) is an international economic organisation comprising eight member countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye. Established in 1997, its main objective is to improve the economic well-being of its members and promote sustainable development through cooperation in various sectors such as trade, energy, agriculture, and technology. The D-8 aims to foster solidarity and collective economic growth by encouraging collaboration among its members, enhancing intra-group trade, and providing a platform for policy dialogues on global economic issues. Its focus is on promoting economic integration, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability, positioning itself as a key player in the global economic landscape.
