Azerbaijan implements four standards under national AI strategy, official says
Four artificial intelligence (AI) standards have already been implemented in Azerbaijan as part of the country’s newly adopted National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence for 2025–2028, according to Salar Imamaliyev, Commercial Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development (İRİA).
Speaking at the opening of the StrategEast: Eurasian Forum on State and IT 2025 in Baku, Imamaliyev said the strategy represents a comprehensive roadmap for creating a sustainable AI ecosystem in Azerbaijan. It focuses on building the necessary infrastructure, developing human capital, and ensuring that AI contributes to both economic growth and social development, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He noted that the government has already carried out an international market analysis, aligned its assessment methodologies with global standards, and begun coordinating a unified digital code among government agencies. As part of this process, four AI standards have already been implemented and are currently operating for the benefit of citizens.
Imamaliyev also highlighted the establishment of the Academy of Artificial Intelligence as one of the key steps in accelerating the introduction of AI technologies in the country. The Academy aims to integrate leading international practices into Azerbaijan’s academic environment, with a strong focus on education and research.
According to Imamaliyev, the Academy’s curricula will be designed to match the standards of top global institutions such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, and Carnegie Mellon. Beyond academia, he added, the initiative seeks to make AI a practical part of everyday life. He said the system under development already demonstrates 98 per cent accuracy, offering users reliable and legally sound results rather than speculative responses.
