Azerbaijan restores monuments, constructs mosques in Shusha President’s special representative says
In a significant stride towards cultural restoration, Azerbaijan has made notable progress in revitalizing historical and religious landmarks in Shusha.
Aydin Karimov, special representative of the Azerbaijani President in Shusha district, announced at the international conference "Organization of Turkic States: Towards new strategic goals against the backdrop of geopolitical realities and global cataclysms" that 18 out of 200 historical and cultural monuments destroyed during the city's occupation have been fully restored, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
Karimov highlighted the ongoing efforts to rebuild the city's religious heritage, underlining the reconstruction of two new mosques amidst the restoration initiatives.
"16 out of 17 mosques in Shusha were destroyed during the occupation. Following the President's instructions, immediate restoration efforts have led to the complete refurbishment of four mosques within four years. Additionally, construction has commenced on two new mosques, one within the city itself and another in the village of Dashalti,” Karimov stated.
