Azerbaijan's cyberspace attacked by Iranian hackers
Azerbaijan's cyberspace was attacked by Iran in 2022, which further aggravated relations between Baku and Tehran.
In 2022, the country's authorities identified the source of 25 cyber attacks. It turned out that 24 of them were from Iran, and one from the Netherlands, according to the joint analytical report of the European Union and the Council of Europe "Barometer of Cybercrime and Cybersecurity in Azerbaijan".
Thus, the issue of cybersecurity has become one of the most serious problems and challenges for the national security of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Currently, the relevant structures of the country are working to counter potential cyber-attacks from Iran, as well as Armenia and Russia. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party was the first to report cyber attacks. The investigation proved that the IP addresses of the hackers were in Iran. A month later, there were reports that the web pages of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) and a TV channel were also attacked by Iranian hackers.
