Azerbaijan secures homes for hundreds of thousands displaced people  Presidential aide says

Azerbaijan has provided housing for around 300,000 internally displaced persons affected by the conflict and occupation of the country’s territories, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, stated.

He made the remarks during an event held within the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, adding that during the years of conflict, particularly in the early 1990s following the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, the country faced serious housing challenges, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“During that period, the government of Azerbaijan provided internally displaced persons and refugees with all possible support, offering them housing, access to affordable food, and other social services,” Hajiyev said.

He stressed that the state also introduced a number of social benefits to improve the welfare of displaced persons.

“The main demand of these people was to return to their native lands and to be able to live there in safe and dignified conditions,” the presidential aide added.
